How I'm embracing the mid-year break!
So somehow we’re more than halfway through the mid-year break already. What? Time goes fast when you’re having fun I guess? To be completely honest with you, I feel like I haven’t done a whole lot these past four weeks, but I also think that might be okay, maybe?
I’ve been working full time for the last four weeks trying to make some extra dollars for the piggy bank, and attempting to get ahead on some of the tasks piling up on my desk. It’s good getting to spend some solid time on the tasks and making some real progress so that’s awesome!
I’ve also, maybe somewhat stupidly, started a really exciting freelance project that is going to take some time but it’s a relatively quick deadline so it shouldn’t eat into too much uni time. I probably shouldn’t have said yes, but it’s just such a fun project that I couldn’t really say no, so here we are! Watch this space!
I know that I always go on about time management and planning things out and I’m usually pretty good at practicing what I preach, but I’m a bit worried about this semester and how on earth I’m going to fit everything in so I’m currently in the process of revisiting my schedule at the moment and making sure that it’s all manageable. I have less papers this semester but more work than ever to do, and combined with my job, the stuff I’m doing for church, spending time with Sam, and just having a life in general, it’s going to be pretty packed, so organisation is a must!!
The plan is that in the next couple of weeks before I head back to uni, I’m going to have a whole bunch of blog posts and videos planned and maybe some ready in advance so that it’s a little less weight off my shoulders when the going gets a bit tough!
To add some more stress into the mix, (because why make things easy for myself?) I’m thinking of changing my project almost completely for major project. There’s some exciting things coming up in my world (top secret currently, sorry!) and I kind of want to direct my research project towards that. I wasn’t exactly in love with the ideas I proposed in semester 1 and even though my proposal got a good grade, I just wasn’t sure if it was actually possible to create. So, it’s back to the drawing board for me! I’ve got a few ideas so far, I just need to get it all in line before we head back to classes in two weeks.
I’ve also spent a lot of time relaxing and having some me-time before life gets hectic again. I’ve watched a whole lot of Gilmore Girls and an entire season of Orange is the New Black, so I’ve definitely made up for all the tv I sacrificed last semester and then some! Allowing myself to take things a bit easier, do more fun things with Sam and just look after myself a bit better in general has been super important during this break and with the impending chaos of next semester on the horizon, I figured it’s a good time to store up some energy and joy!
This has just been a quick update on the mid-year break so far. I’d love to hear how you’re spending yours if you’re on break too! Did you go away? Have you been working? Been doing some personal projects? Let me know! And don’t hesitate to ask any questions about the break if you have any!
PS. if you haven’t already, don’t forget to head over to last week’s post and leave a comment to be in to WIN!! There’s only 1 week left to go!
Much Love, Hollie! :D
